St Ultans 2-17 Carnaross 1-20
Carnaross and St Ultans shared the spoils in their first game of the Division 9 League. The home side dominated the first half and led by seven at the break. The Ultans scores came from Mark Allen, Keith Hennessy with a 45, three from Tommy Buchanan and a great score from Oisin Dunne-Christie after a strong run out of defence.
Two early scores from play from Tommy Buchanan and Lorcan Hughes narrowed the gap but three quickfire points from Carnaross extended their lead to eight. Charlie O’Brien and Tom Brennan both pointed from play but Carnaross raised another white flag. Richie Lynagh who was just on the field won the ball forty yards from goal and drove towards goal and hit a powerful shot to the net. Two further points from Buchanan closed the gap further but Carnaross looked to have closed the game out scoring five points in five minutes with Lee Hennessy also pointing for Ultans. Ultans were trailing by six with two minutes remaining but Tommy Buchanan scored what appeared to be a consolation goal, but Ultans had momentum and Charlie O’Brien scored from the next play. Ultans won the resulting kickout and won a free outside the two point arc which Tommy Buchanan duly dispatched to draw the sides level. With time almost up Darragh Callaghan looked to have scored the winner but Carnaross won a free to draw the sides level.
