St. Michaels 0-11, O'Mahonys 2-16
Navan O'Mahonys showed a ruthless touch on the road last Saturday afternoon as they overwhelmed an out of sorts St. Michaels outfit who were weakened because of player work commitments.
The St. Michaels lads had a nightmare start and never really recovered with their performance lacking intensity. In contrast to their opponents, O'Mahonys were very impressive at the business end of the field and raced into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead after 15
minutes. Paddy Fitzsimons opened the scoring for St. Michaels and points from Gearóid O'Malley (0-2) and one each from
Kuba Bidzinski and Robert Briody followed to leave the home side trailing by 0-5 to 1-6 at the short whistle.
In perfect conditions St. Michaels tried their best to gain some momentum in the opening fifteen minutes of the second half but instead their opponents bided their time before stretching their lead with a further six minors. O'Malley, Bidzinski and Cian McFadden all posted points for the home side however O'Mahony's second major on fifty minutes killed off any hope the St. Michaels lads had of reducing the deficit.
