Meath Hill 0-12 Duleek Bellewstown 0-12
Meath Hill were on their travels again, this time to Tony Callaghan Park to face Duleek Bellewstown on a sunny Thursday evening.
Duleek won the throw-in and started with real intent but could not convert their early chances. Meath Hill would open the scoring early on with a free from Ryan Shekleton. Meath Hill continued to intensify the pressure around the Duleek kickout with Ryan Owens ever present and winning ball around the middle. Ryan Shekleton stepped up again, this time beyond the arc, slotting over calmly after smart attacking play from Jack Slavin and Andy Monaghan. Meath Hill came again punching holes through the Duleek defence with James Mooney getting on the end of a fine attack, pushing the Hills lead out to four. Duleek had moments in the first half but failed to convert, with Sean Owens chipping in with points of his own, a close range free and one from play. Andy Monaghan and that man Shekleton would extend Meath Hills lead with two fine efforts from play. Dominic Yorke also made an excellent stop to keep Duleek scoreless at the break.

Both teams went close at the start of the second half but were unable to make any headway. Sean Owens got Meath Hill off the mark from a free after a brilliant run through the Duleek defence by James Mooney, who was a torn in their side all evening.
It was Meath Hill again who kept the scoreboard moving, Sean Owens tagged on another pointed free after Jack Slavin was fouled just inside the arc. Duleek eventually got off the mark from a close range free. Duleek came into a real purple patch, winning breaks and hit a couple of two pointers in a row, with one coming from the sideline. A questionable referee decision saw Jamie Slavin head to the sinbin for 10 minutes. Duleek slotted over another free, reducing the gap to five. Meath Hill manage to keep Duleek at bay for another while with an excellent catch from Ryan Owens, which was brought forward to dissent. Ryan Shekleton stepped up again and struck a fine two pointer, however this would be the Hills last score of the game. DB hit the last three scores of the game, with a two-pointer coming right at the death to level the game. Next up for Meath Hill is St. Patrick’s in two weeks time.
