LGFA Div 6 FL: Winning start for Dee Ranger

The Dee Ranger squad that defeated Longwood in the Division 6 FL

Dee Rangers Division 6 side got off to a winning start when they welcomed Longwood to Meath Hill for Dee Rangers first competitive game at this grade. 

Their first round game was postponed, so the ladies were eager to get their league underway. 

Longwood started the brighter of the two sides, registering a goal after only 4minutes. 

Dee Rangers found their form and by the tenth minute were ahead by a point. Eimear McCluskey scoring a goal and Megan Malone recording a point. 

Dee Rangers continued to dominate and they were rewarded with another goal and a point. The goal scored by Megan Malone and a point from Megan O’Rourke. 

Longwood then recorded what would prove to be their final score of the half, a pointed free. 

Dee Rangers finished the half impressively recording a further 1-04 in the final ten minutes of the game. Megan Malone pouncing on a loose ball and finishing to the back of the net for her second goal of the game. Ellen Carolan recorded her first point of the day after a fine solo run from the half back position. Eimear McCluskey kicked three points in a row to leave the half time score at Dee Rangers 3-06, Longwood 1-01.

Longwood again started the half the brighter of the two sides, recording back to back points from play in the first five minutes of the second half. Kellie Mooney Gorman recorded Dee Rangers first score of the second half after an impressive turnover from wing back Nicole Dardis. 

Eimear McCluskey rattled the Longwood net ten minutes into the second half to further extend her team’s lead. 

Longwood dug deep and managed to register three further points before the final whistle but it was Dee Rangers who finished the game with a further two points, one from Aoibheann Sheehy and another from Grace Carry. 

Dee Rangers will be happy with this result as they have stepped up a division for the 2025 season. Their next game is an away fixture vs Rathkenny.
