CLG Bhulf Tón 3-08 – CLG Ó Mathúna An Uaimh 3-12
De bharr taispéantas láidir sa cheathrú deiridh bhí an bua ag CLG Ó Mathúna in aghaidh dara foireann Bhulf Tón ar an Domhnach i bPáirc Baile Ghib.
In a bright and sunny Páirc Baile Ghib, a youthful Tones second team got off to an enterprising start. They lead 1-3 to 0-3 after 16 minutes, thanks to a Ben Reilly opener and a Joe Smith penalty. O’Mahonys levelled it up on 20 minutes and a Dylan McFadden point on 29 seen the Tones go in with a one-point lead at the break. 1-4 – 1-3
The second half continued in a similar vein to the first with both teams taking good scores. Joe Smith scored a sublime, over the shoulder point on 33 minutes from an acute angle inside the 21, the type of score which surely questions the hierarchy of point value in the new rule’s era. A goal and a point from the hard working Adrian Crawford in the space of 4 minutes’s had the scoreline at 2-7 to 1-11 on 45 minutes and all to play for. Two goals and a point from the Navan men in the final quarter put them in a strong position and despite a well executed Kyle Moran goal in that period, they held on for a deserved 4 point victory. 3-8 – 3-12.
This was a good competitive game of football for the time of year and both teams played it in a spirited fashion. O’Mahony’s showing some good point scoring ability and displaying a little more experience around the field. The Tones had 6 adult debutants from their successful U-19 side on display and they all contributed to a good team performance. There was a nice balance to the team with all players contributing to a decent showing. Adrian Crawford, Tiarnán McKeever, Jake McFadden, Shane McKeever and Blake McGarry all enjoying good moments.
