Moynalty 3-13 Ballivor 0-8

Moynalty began their season with a trip to Ballivor on Sunday morning. There was a minutes silence for the late Brendan Cummins before kick off.

The start of the game was a tight affair as both teams took time to shake off any rustiness built up over the winter. Moynalty soon took control of the game with Eoin Gilsenan (2), Bobby Kavanagh and Will Smith (2) all raising white flags. Just before half time some excellent defending from Odhran Mahon and Brion Gilsenan stopped a dangerous Ballivor chance, Moynalty moved the ball forward and some sharp thinking and a quick solo and go from Aaron Lynch led to him finishing to the back of the net and left the lad’s in a strong position at half time.

The second half started with Ballivor putting alot of pressure on the Moynalty goal, again some great team defending and a spectacular save from James McCabe kept them out. Moynalty soon took back control of the game and 2 goals in quick succession from Aaron Lynch and Leo Kavanagh opened up a healthy lead again as the lads ran out comfortable winners.

This was a great team performance as the lads worked hard all over the pitch. They now look forward to playing Dunsany in the next round.
