Clann na nGael celebrate with the Stiofán Ó Méalóid Memorial Cup at Athboy

Clann na nGael advanced to the semi final of the Tailteann Cup with this comfortable win over neighbours Dunderry in Athboy. The game also doubled for the annual Stiofán Ó Méalóid Memorial Cup,

Dunderry got off to the better start, scoring 1-1 inside the first 5 minutes. However, Clann settled and kept Dunderry scoreless for the rest of the half. Dylan Doherty kicked six points and Éamon Ó Donnchadha scored 2 from play. Cormac Smith also got in the action with a point of his own.

Full forward Peter Garry finished both of Clanns first half goals and the Athboy / Ráth Chairn outfit led by 2-09 - 1-01 at the break.

Clann regained their dominance at the start of the second half, kicking the first four scores. Liam Mac Namara and Beans Kelleher kicked the pick of these. Dunderry got their second goal before Éamon Ó Donncadha scored two goals in quick succession to truly bury the tie. Dylan Doherty added his 7th point of the match before Cormac Smith kicked the only 2 pointer of the game to put the icing on the cake for Clann na nGael.

Máirtín Ó Méalóid presented the cup to Micheál Ó Coffaigh after the match.
