Kildalkey 2-16 Kiltale 1-18
Kildalkey got up and running in the Donal O Liongsigh cup on Saturday at home v Kiltale.
Liam Carroll was the hero on the day with a last minute winning point after a surging run after switching to centre back from Fullback.
This was a hard fought win as kiltale led by 6 at halftime and were playing well but with the introduction of a few subs Kildalkey upped their game in the second half and closed the gap but kiltale were stubborn and replied every time the village men got a score and it took that late late score from Carroll to seal the win .
Kildalkey had a good mix of youth and experience and had 8 minors from last year togged out on the day and one of them James Cully getting his teams first score and 3 more newcomers also got on the scoresheet Conor Barnwell Michael Carr and Eoghan Monaghan with fine points
Mattie Cully and a long range shot from Arron Traynor brought their team up to 0-7 but it was Kiltale who led by 6 with 1-10 at halftime.
Darragh Ryan Liam Carroll Arron Traynor and Michael Carr were battling hard in the backs and giving good ball into the boys inside .
Lee Coldrick Cian McGourty and Stephen Murray were making a big impact as second half subs and inside Conor Barnwell and the Cully brothers Mattie and James were getting on top with James hitting a vital goal and straight after that a long Liam Carroll delivery went all the way to the net and it looked good for the blues but Kiltale hit back and levelled again with the game at 2-15 to 1-18 it looked like the game was heading for a draw but Carroll saved the day for the Blues with his late point.
