St Ultans 2-12 Moynalty 2-08
St Ultans needed a late rally to come from behind to win after leading by ten points at the break.
As is typical at this time of year conditions were to play a big part in the game and St Ultans had the advantage of a strong breeze in the first half. The Moynalty keeper made some two early saves to deny goals but Tadhg Shanley finished low to the net for the games first score. Tommy Buchanan scored a two pointer from a placed ball to extend the lead and Ultans continued pick of good scores with further points from Buchanan (3), Aaron Smyth, Lee Hennessy and Tadhg Shanley. Ultans defended well in the first half and Moynalty and this left the visitors leading 1-08 to 0-01 when Martin Dawson blew the half time whistle.
Moynalty dominated the third outscoring Ultans by 2-05 to a point from Tommy Buchanan. The damage could have been far worse for the visitors if it wasn’t for two fantastic saves from keeper Dave Halleran. Ultans rallied and Darragh Callaghan pointed after a strong run, a fine curling effort from Shane Dolan pushed Ultans into a two point lead. Josh Ratty raised the final green flag of the game with a composed finish but Moynalty added further scores to narrow the gap. Paidin Boggins completed the scoring with the insurance point.
