Cleary to lead Royal ladies

Meath's Aoibhín Cleary

Aoibhín Cleary has been named as the Meath Senior Ladies football team captain for 2025. The Donaghmore Ashbourne star takes over from All star keeper Monica McGuirk.

Shane McCormack’ charges get their season up and running when they travel to Tyrone for Round 1 of the NFL  on Sunday 26th January.

Meath LGFA took to social media to make the announcement

Meath Manager Shane McCormack is pleased to announce his captain for the Meath Senior team in 2025 as Aoibhín Cleary Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA

She will be ably assisted by Niamh Gallogly Dunshaughlin & Royal Gaels and Mary Kate Lynch Summerhill Ladies Football in their roles as vice captains.

Aoibhín has played for Meath at all age groups, making her senior debut in April 2016 v Kildare in the NFL appearing over 75 times. She has won many honours along the way including 2 Senior All Irelands, Division 1, 2 and 3 titles, an Intermediate All Ireland, a minor All Ireland and a TG4 All Star. Her commitment and dedication is second to none and has time and time again proven to be the beating heart of the Meath ladies team.

Niamh Gallogly made her debut v Sligo also in 2016, (scoring 3 points!) and has made over 90 appearances for Meath . She also has 2 Senior All Irelands, an Intermediate All Ireland and 3 NFL titles. Niamh is an integral part of her club winning the county championship for the last two years.

Mary Kate Lynch broke through under Manger Eamon Murray and has been an ever present in the team since 2020 appearing over 55 times. She also has won 2 Senior All Irelands, an Intermediate All Ireland and 2 NFL titles.

The senior management, county board and all involved in Meath ladies football wish Aoibhín, Niamh, Mary Kate and their team mates the best of luck in this years competitions.
