Lismullen were crowned Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Boys Division 2 champions after this seven point win over Kentstown in the final game of the day at Páirc Tailteann.

Just three points separated the teams at the break, the team in black and white 2-8 to 2-5 in front. The impressive Austin Barry gave Kentstown a dream start with a fine goal but by the 13th minute Lismullen were 1-6 to 1-1 in front, their goal coming from Jamie Reynolds. Cathal Cummins narrowed the gap with another well taken goal. Lismullen’s reply was instant, full forward Ben Reilly getting the first of his hat-trick. Kentstown kicked four unanswered points from Ferdia Barry, Cian Clarke and Austin Barry (2) to stay in the race as the half time whistle sounded.

Reilly raised his second green flag early in the second half and with 35 minutes gone a goal still separated the sides. Lismullen stepped up their performance for the remainder of the half and outscored Kentstown 1-4 to 0-2 to seal the title.

For the winners it’s a first Division 2 title since 2015. Kentsown’s last success was in 2018 and they lost last years final to Oldcastle.

After the game joint captains James Cottin and Jamie Reynolds received the Boys Division 2 cup from Niamh Ronan.
