Kilskyre N.S. 3-6 Castletown N.S 2-7
Kilskyre N.S. made it back to back title wins in the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Boys Division 5 with this thrilling victory over Castletown at Pairc Tailteann.
Freddie Kearns put Castletown on the scoreboard first before Kilskyre took over. The impressive Danny Keane opened their account, Fionn Owens quickly followed before Keane raised a green flag. Matt Farrell McGovern was in minutes later for the black and ambers with their second goal and Kilskyre were 2-2 to 0-2 up after ten minutes. That proved to be their last score of the half as Castletown began to dominate. Points from Sam Meade Donnelly, Sean Cassidy (2) and Tadgh Sheridan narrowed the lead before a Darrell McKeown goal left it all square, 1-5 to 2-2, at the break.
Charles Morton and Owens opened up a two point lead early in the second half but as in the first half Castletown came back. Sheridan kicked his second point, Sam Meade Donnelly goaled and Cassidy landed free to give them a three point lead. Time was running out for Kilskyre and they needed inspiration from somewhere. That came from Killian Connell. The half back raced through for a brilliant goal with a minute left and quickly followed with the lead point. Keane completed the comeback with his second and the Boys Division 5 title was heading back to the North Meath school.
After the game joint captains Charles Morton and Ryan Lynch were presented with the Division 5 cup by Brian Mullins.
