Ard Rí CNS Navan 3-2 Scoil Naomh Eoin 1-4

Ard Rí CNS Navan claimed their first ever Meath Cumann na mBunscol title after this Girls Division 2/3/4/5 Football Shield final replay victory over Scoil Naomh Eoin.

These two schools met on Thursday October 24th at Lomans Park Trim. Yesterday’s final replay provided another great game for the large crowd that attended Paddy O’Brien Park.

Scoil Naomh Eoin battled back to earn a replay last time out and they got the better start with points from Fausta Barktute and Natalia Bikiewicz. Ard Rí came roaring back into the game with goals from Anna Brown and Chloe Chaney to lead at the break 2-0 to 0-2.

Chaney extended that lead early in the second half before a fine point from Bikiewicz and a Mia Callan goal left the minimum between the teams. Captain Martha McDonnell put the girls in sky blue back in control with a fine goal. Brown and Callan exchanged points before the full time whistle and Ard Rí claimed their first ever Cumann na mBunscol title with four to spare. 

The winners opened their doors in September 2010 with 7 pupils and began participating in Cumann na mBunscol competitions in 2017. Victories were scarce and no team had ever advanced beyond the group stage until this historic achievement. 

After the game Caroline Gibbons presented Girls Division 2/3/4/5 Football Shield to Ard Rí captain Martha McDonnell.
