Navan O'Mahony's 3-19 Clane (Kildare) 1-3

Navan O'Mahony’s had a comprehensive win when they welcomed Clane to Paddy O'Brien Park for the semi final of the Club Junior Championship.

This relatively young team under the leadership of Donal Hogan has been growing in strength , skill and confidence as they progressed through the county championship and on into the Leinster competition.

The home side started well with a point from Ailbhe Leahy followed by a well taken 45’ from the stick of Lizzy Brennan before Clane opened their tab with a point from free.

Isabel O Connor followed with a brace and with the hops gathering momentum when Brenan in possession ran in on goal there was no doubt about the outcome and Navan secured their first goal of the game.  Jorja Keogh opened her tab shortly after with a well taken point from play leaving it 1.5 to a point.

Clane found a bit of momentum then with a point from play. A spell of pressure from Clane led to a couple of frees which weren’t converted, but the visitors weren’t deterred and scored another from play followed shortly by a goal

O'Mahony’s finished  the stronger  at the end of the first half with another point from OConnor , a brace from Keogh and a second for Leahy  leaving it 1.9 to 1.3 in favour of the home side

Brennan opened the scoring in the second half with a point from a well taken free. Lauren Woods who always looked threatening with ball in hand split the posts before Brennan slotted over again from a placed ball.

O'Connor, who was relentless in her efforts, added to her tally with a well taken goal which was closely followed by another point from Leahy. Brennan continued her accuracy with frees adding a third for the day. A great point followed from Izzy Kinsella putting further distance between the sides. Clane failed to score due to solid defence from all in the back lines.

Laoise Mc Dermott who was a powerhouse in the middle of the field alongside Roisin Tobin who worked tirelessly,  opened her tally with a point from play and Brennan added one more from play before completing her duties for the afternoon.

O'Connor having won possession worked her way through the defence and finished to the net for the second time. Mc Dermott took up free taking duties and slotted one over in the closing stages. The last score of the game came from Cara Ratty, a point  which left Clane scoreless in the second half and a final scoreline of 3.19 to 1.3
