Ardbraccan 1-14 Blackwater 0-15
Having struggled since the start of the competition three years ago Ardbraccan have put back to back wins together after this two point victory over Blackwater in the second round of the Regional FC played at Drumbaragh.
Kuba Bidzinski got the scoreboard working for Blackwater but at the end of the first quarter Ardbraccan led 0-3 to 0-2 thanks to a brace from Adam Kelly and one from Conor Sheridan. Blackwater dominated the remainder of the half. Liam Ward levelled matters before keeper Johnny Lynch saved a penalty from Christian Finlay. Points from Conor Lynch, and four on the trot for Hughie Corcoran gave the Moynalty / St Michaels / Carnaross / Kilmainham / /Drumbaragh combination a 0-8 to 0-5 half time lead.
Paul Garrigan’s men had the game all square inside the opening ten minutes of the second half with points from Kelly, Finlay, Isaac McKeever and the impressive Aodhan Mallon. The game's crucial score arrived soon after when Kelly finished to the Blackwater net after great work from O’Mahony’s Mallon. Finlay and Ruairi Buchanan added points and Ardbraccan were five in front. Blackwater kept going and had the lead down to a point with extra time approaching but a Finlay free gave Ardbraccan the insurance point and their second win of the competition.
The winners take on Moyfenragh in round 3, Blackwater entertain Bru na Boinne both next Saturday at Dunganny.
