Drumree's Keelan Taylor jumps over his team mate James Reilly as Dermot McKenna and Cormac O'Shea O'Mahony's close in during the Meath IHC final at Pairc Tailteann

Navan O’Mahony’s 1-15 Drumree 1-10

Navan O’Mahony’s atoned for last years loss to Kildalkey to claim the Mick Leonard Cup with five points to spare over Drumree played in perfect conditions at Pairc Tailteann. The town side last won the IHC in 2017.

The winners dominated most of the opening half. Jack Walsh had them on the scoreboard inside 45 seconds from a free. David Reilly hit back for Drumree but by the 16th minute the ‘Hoops’ were 0-7 to 0-2 in front with points from Walsh (4), Cormac Keyes and Tom Condon. Reilly kept Drumree in the game with three pointed frees. On the stroke of half time O’Mahony’s full forward Shane McCarthy was fouled in the square and Walsh made no mistake from the penalty spot to put his team 1-7 not 0-5 up at the break.

The sides exchanged two points each in the opening seven minutes of the second half before a Sean Kilcoyne goal brought Drumree back into the game. Despite the blow O’Mahony’s responded in style with three unanswered points from captain Keyes (2) and Jack McConnell to regain that five point advantage. It was then the turn of Drumree to take control and Reilly had the lead back to two with full time approaching. O’Mahony’s were not to be denied and they finished in style with a Paddy Dillon brace and Keyes again to run out deserving winners.

After the game a proud O’Mahony’s man Michael Bennett presented the Mick Leonard Cup to captain Cormac Keyes.

O’Mahony’s scorers: Jack Walsh 1-7, Cormac Keyes 0-4, Paddy Dillon 0-2, Tom Condon and Jack McConnell 0-1 each

Drumree scorers: David Reilly 0-8, Sean Kilcoyne 1-1, Josh Wall 0-1
