Meath senior managers Johnny Greville and Robbie Brennan

Recently appointed Meath senior football team manager Robbie Brennan was ratified at last night’s gather of the county committee in Dunganny.

Also ratified were his backroom management team of Martin Corey, Joe McMahon and Conor Gillespie.

The management team was handed a three year term with an ongoing review.

Also ratified was senior hurling team manager Johnny Greville (Raharney GAA Westmeath) on a three year term along with his selectors Tom Shine (Kilskyre/Moylagh) and Sean Corrigan (Kildalkey).

Chairman Jason Plunkett gave a detailed outline of the process involved in selecting the football manager after two nominations were received from clubs, Robbie Brennan and Lar Wall. The chairman said they had also interviewed five other candidates.

The Summerhill delegate sent best wishes to Conor Gillespie on his appointment and said Summerhill’s loss was Meath’s gain.

A member of the hurling interview committee Cian Royston outlined the process involved in the hurling appointment.

The chairman said that Johnny Greville was under no pressure to win the Christy Ring Cup in his first year. Instead what was needed when they eventually got back to the Joe McDonagh Cup competition was a team capable of staying at that level.
