The late Noel Martin

St Mary’s will honour their former player and referee Noel Martin with a cup in his memory. The Noel Martin Cup is to be presented to the County Board and will be awarded annually to the Referee of the Year.

St Mary’s delegate Pat Lenehan said Noel was a great GAA man and refereed for over 20 years and he was also a regular steward in Pairc Tailteann on match days. He said it would be fitting that the cup would be awarded to the Referee of the Year in recognition of Noel’s dedication as a referee over so many years.

The Killyon club has kindly agreed to donate a cup to the county board in memory of the late Kit Mitchell. The Kit Mitchell Memorial Cup will be award to the winners of the senior hurling championship B competition winners each year.

The Mattie O’Brien (Teltown) Cup which was presented to the County Board by the Wolfe Tones club many years ago and was presented to winning teams at various levels over the years will now be awarded to the winners of the Intermediate Hurling B competition. Cultural Officer Joe O’Brien (son) said it was the family’s wish that the cup would be awarded for an adult hurling championship. His proposal was accepted by delegates.
