Kilbride advanced to the Junior B FC final

Kilbride are through to their third adult Championship final in the last five years after an enthralling contest in awful conditions in Kilbride.

Kilbride were quickest out of the blocks and were 1- 1 to no score up after three minutes. Megan Peters showed great finishing touches to great team moves. However what looked like it may be a landslide victory did not happen as Dunsany got into the game with a couple of scores. Kilbride added an additional three points through Laura Campion, Aideen Reilly and Emily Keenan to leave the half time score 1-4 to 3 points in favour of Kilbride.

Kilbride knew they would be up against it in the second half as they had played with the aid of a considerable breeze in the first half. And after ten minutes of the second half things looked ominous as their lead was eroded and they found themselves 4 points down. Try as they might up front the Kilbride players could not muster a score even though the stats would show that they had the majority of possession as the backs got on top and were giving the forwards a platform to build on.

However on 50 minutes what looked like the killer blow as Dunsany added another score to leave Kilbride trailing by five. An additional seven minutes passed before the next score came which was Kilbrides first point in over half an hour. Then the turning point as a lobbed ball into the Dunsany box ended up in the back of the net. Just one point down and the Kilbride supporters were dreaming of getting the elusive draw. But no, Kilbride had other ideas. Instead they got two more points and robbed victory from the jaws of defeat. Two minutes later which seemed a lot longer the referee blew the final whistle to a massive cheer. Well done to all involved on what was a massive victory made by hard work and grit. Roll on the final where we need all of Kilbride there to cheer us on and get across that elusive winning line.
