Finn Conroy shoots for Kilmessan as Drumree's Sean Kennedy closes in during the Meath JHC final at Pairc Tailteann

Kilmessan 2-11 Drumree 0-08

Kilmessan claimed the Meath Junior Hurling Championship title in fine style with this nine point win over Drumree in windy conditions at Pairc Tailteann.

Playing into the wind Kilmessan made a good start with points from Finn Conroy and a Conor Gorman free. Drumree replied with a Killian Gavin point but by the 16th minute Chuckie Keena’s men were in control. Cian O’Neill rounded his man and finished to the net on the 12th minute. Conroy and Jake Harlin added points and on the 16th minute Senan Connell was in for his teams second major. Stephen Doyle and a monster point from stalwart John Crimmons kept Drumree in the game as Kilmessan went to the dressing room 2-5 to 0-3 in front.

By the midway point of the second half those two goals separated the sides. Doyle with three frees and a fine point from Brendan Walsh narrowed the lead. Kilmessan weathered that mini Drumree revival and finished the game with scores from Cathal Murphy, Danny Thynne, Kyle Smith and Gorman to run out convincing winners.

After the game captain Conor Gorman was presented with the JHC Cup by sponsor Michael Bird of K Windows & Doors and Leinster Delegate Mairéad Delaney.
