Junior B HC final: Disappointment for Kilmessan

Aodhan Byrne strikes for Kilmessan as Colm O'Toole Navan O'Mahonys moves into block during the Meath Junior B HC final at Pairc Tailteann

Navan O'Mahonys 3-14 Kilmessan 0-9

Navan O’Mahonys proved too strong for Kilmessan in this Junior B Hurling Championship final played at Pairc Tailteann.

The Town side were in complete control from the start. Kilmessan had to wait till the 12th minute for their opening score, centre forward Kevin O’Reilly obliging. O’Mahonys first goal arrived on the midway point but with seven minutes remaining Kilmessan were still in the game, trailing 1-5 to 0-4 thanks to scores from Jason Gorman, O’Reilly and Kevin Horan. By the time referee Gus Martin blew the half time whistle O’Mahonys were 2-9 to 0-4 in front.

A third goal for the winners early in the second half ended the game as a contest. Kilmessan kept going though and were rewarded with points from Horan, substitute Ger O’Neill (2), keeper Chris Curtis and Jack Clynch.
