St. Michaels 2-20, Nobber 0-09

St. Michaels breezed past their neighbours Nobber in a totally lopsided relegation play-off quarter final played in Moynalty on Saturday afternoon last and as a result they can now look forward to playing Intermediate football again in 2025. The glorious autumnal afternoon drew a large attendance to the splendid Moynalty GFC grounds and with the pitch in pristine condition an entertaining derby clash seemed to be in the offing, however that wasn't to be.

St. Michaels gradually eased their way into the proceedings and points from Gearóid O'Malley (3), Cian McFadden and Paddy Fitzsimons (1 each) helped them to a 0-5 to 0-1 lead by the end of the opening quarter. Next it was the turn of Jakub Bidzinski and the energetic Davy Lynch to raise white flags before Nobber converted from a dead ball. O'Malley, McFadden (2 each ) and Matthew Halpin completed the first half scoring for the winners who led by 0-12 to 0-4 at the short whistle.

The game was put to bed three minutes into the new half when Jakub Bidzinski sent a rasping shot to the back of the Nobber net for an eleven point lead. Lynch, O'Malley and McFadden all pointed before Paddy Fitzsimons added his sides second major at the end of the third quarter. St. Michaels closed out proceedings impressively with Brian O'Reilly, Declan Reilly, Lynch and O'Malley notching up further minors during the final minutes of the action.
