Kildalkey 2-20 Kiltale 1-13

Kildalkey recorded a comfortable win over Kiltale in this Meath SHC quarter final to set up a last four meeting with neighbours Trim in two weeks time.

The Jubilee Cup holders were rarely troubled. After the early exchanges Kildalkey outscored Kiltale 0-9 to 0-2 in the last twenty minutes of the opening half and take a 0-12 to 0-5 lead to the dressing room. Eamon Ryan got the scoreboard working inside the opening minute. Kildalkey replied with two from Nicky Potterton and Niall McNally before Jack Regan got his first of the afternoon. Cathal McCabe levelled matters but from there on the Village took control. Paddy Barnwell (2), Martin Healy, Potterton (3), McNally and Gary Kelly hit the target as Nick Fitzgerald’s charges moved seven in front.

Kiltale did ask questions in the opening six minutes of the second half. Jack Regan buried a close in free and Craig Gilsenan and Ryan added points to narrow the lead to three, 0-13 to 1-7. That’s as close as the former champions got. Potterton added his 7th before Conor Fitzgerald finished to the Kiltale net after a goalmouth scramble. Five points separated the team heading into the final stretch, 1-17 to 1-12, but the holders finished with a flourish that included a goal from Potterton to seal a comfortable win.
