St. Michaels / Nobber 2-13 Clann na nGael 1-15

St. Michaels/Nobber hosted Clan na Gael in a winner takes all Div 4 group B match and had to battle to the end to dispose of the Athboy outfit.

Clann na Gael started with the greater intent and registered the first 2 scores before CJ Lynch converted a free. CnG proceeded to dominate with 3 further points and could have been much more ahead with plenty of missed chances before a St. M/N counter attack resulted in Fionn Murray blasting to the net on 16 minutes. CnG were using the breeze to their advantage at this point and dominated in most areas adding 7 points before the break but the North Meath lads kept the game alive with 3 vital scores from Lynch (1 free) to go in trailing 1-4 to 0-12 at the break.

The home team kicked into life in the second half and had 2 points on the board from Lynch after 4 minutes from a free and an advanced mark. Diarmuid O'Malley reacted quickest to a rebounded shot to level the game with a well taken goal and St. Michaels / Nobber now had their tails up. Daragh Rock, Korede Otubango and Eoin Larkin were working hard in the middle 3rd to keep the momentum going while further points from Lynch, Murray and Conall O'Sullivan pushed them ahead. Sean Behan added one minor before a huge free from Murray followed by O'Sullivan converting also left them 5 points clear but Clan na nGael refused to lie down and rattled off 1-01 to leave the minimum between them on 55 minutes. Another Lynch free put them 2 ahead and CnG fought to the end converting a free on 35 mins to lose by just one minor. St. Michaels / Nobber now move on to the semi-final.
