Jamie Murphy St. Pats

St Patrick's 4-9 Drumbaragh 1-14

At 6 PM today at Walterstown GAA, a light breeze moved across the grounds, offering ideal playing conditions for the evening’s Meade Farm IFC Group C fixture between St.Patricks and Drumbaragh Emmets. The sky was clear, with the sun beginning to set.

The match started off with Drumbaragh’s Hugh Corcoran kicking three points against. Before St.Patricks’ Jamie Murphy kicked his first of the night. Before the East Meath team took flight up the wing to score a goal coming from Oisin Black with a very well placed palm goal into the top corner. Before a misplaced kick-out landed to Jamie Murphy and a well played ball to Donal Landy was enough for Pats to score a second goal of the night within minutes of one another, giving Pats a four point lead after ten minutes. For the rest of the half the teams were tit for tat for the rest of the half with scores for the Stamullen side coming from Donal Landy, Ben Sullivan and Sean Emmanuel. A well handled ball was played to Jamie Murphy in the last few minutes of the first half to score the Pats men’s third goal of the night before the whistle blew.

Ending the half, St.Patricks 3-5 to Drumbaragh 0-10. All though the game was extremely attacking and the eye catch of this game it’s hard to leave out the super first half performance for David McQuillan who was flying up and down the pitch constantly.

The second half opened up with the Pats men defending the clubhouse end of Walterstown, where Drumbaragh scored a 45 and a well worked goal to level up the match, before substitute Shane Landy struck 2 lovely scores with his left boot to open his teams scoring tally for the second half. Before a beautiful ball was played by the very impressive Jamie Murphy to the young Ben Sullivan for the east Meath sides fourth goal. The real change for the Pats and the moment to really turn the tide came within the first 10 minutes of the second half where Pats captain Neil O’Flaherty put in a very impressive tracking back to block Drumbaragh from taking the lead.

Very impressive Pats performances came all across the pitch especially that of Jamie Murphy who finished of his night with 1-3, Sean Emmanuel with his signature strong running at defences and the masked Liam Brennan who cleared up the ball in defence with a several turnovers in the second half alone.

St. Pats scorers: J.Murphy 1-03 (0-01), B.Sullivan 1-1, D.Landy 1-1, O.Black 1-0, S.Emmanuel 0-02, S.Landy 0-2
