Navan O’Mahony’s 2-12 Dunderry 1-12

Navan O’Mahony’s had to battle to the end to claim the points on offer in the final round of the JBHC in a sunny Dunganny, in spite of building an early lead. The win secures top place in the group and a place in the semi-final.

With Sean Davis taking a score in the fifth minute, Navan O’Mahony’s took an early lead. A burst from the Brews Hill charges saw them rack up scores, with a further point in the seventh minute followed by a goal from Davis  from a free in the eighth minute.

By the midway mark of the half, Navan O’Mahony’s held an eleven point advantage, 2-06 to 0-01 with the second goal coming from Declan Tolster.

This was to be the peak for O’Mahony’s who failed to score for the remainder of the half. Dunderry pushed on in this quarter, adding five points in as many minutes until the 20th minute. 

A goal in the 24th minute narrowed the gap between the sides and two late points saw the bare minimum between the sides at the interval.

Both teams were quick off the mark in the second half, scoring within the opening minute with the first score coming from Davis. 

The sides were level moments later when Dunderry converted a free. For the remainder of the half, O’Mahony’s managed to maintain a consistent lead, albeit with little between them,.

Two late scores from substitute Paddy Dillon provided the insurance for O’Mahony’s who saw out the game as three point winners and progress to the semi final.
