SFC Group B: St. Peter's grind it out

Dunboyne's Shane McEntee is under pressure to retain possession during the Meath SFC clash with Wolfe Tones at Pairc Tailteann

Dunboyne picked up their second win in Group B of the Meath Senior Football Championship with this four point victory over Wolfe Tones at a wet and windy Pairc Tailteann.

In a low scoring first half the teams went to the dressing rooms level on 0-4 apiece. Wolfe Tones played with the wind into the O’Mahonys end but it was St. Peters who made the better start with points from Donal Lenihan and David McEntee. Fiachra Ward and Kyle Moran levelled proceedings by the 20th minute. Cathal Finn and Lenihan kept the scoreboard working for Ger Robinson’s men while the Ward brothers Fiachra and Caolan raised white flags before the short whistle.

Cathal Lacey gave an exhibition in the second half for the eventual winners. The half forward kicked three points from play and by the 50th minute Dunboyne with the elements on their back had opened up a 0-11 to 0-5 lead and kill the tie as a contest.

Dunboyne take on Gaeil Colmcille in round 3 while Wolfe Tones entertain Curraha.
