St Ultans 0-11 Moylagh 1-7
St Ultans secured back to back championship wins by the narrowest of margins, it was a game of two halves with a strong win the key factor.
Ultans had the aid of the wind in the first half but Moylagh opened the scoring on five minutes, Ruairi Buchanan responded with a free and a well taken mark from Luke Cahill was converted. Luke Cahill extended the lead with a fantastic point from distance. Wing back Luke Griffin got in on the scoring act finishing well after a strong run. Three points in the last five minutes of the half had Ultans leading by seven but a late Moylagh free before half time reduced the gap to six.
Moylagh opened the scoring in the second half but Cian McBride replied with rasping shot that hit the crossbar and went over. Moylagh took advantage of conditions and kicked the next two scores. Moylagh had numerical advantage as Ultans were reduced to 14 for a black card and reduced the gap to the minimum with a well finished goal on seventeen minutes. Conor Finnegan replied with a free but Moylagh cancelled this out quickly and a free with six minutes of normal time remaining drew the sides level. Some resolute defending and multiple turnovers in the last ten minutes prevented and further Moylagh scores, Ultans turned over the ball once more in defence and moved up the field at pace, wing back Darren Hughes was dragged to ground and a free awarded to Ultans. Conor Finnegan was the calmest man on the pitch as he slotted the free over despite a considerable breeze with the final kick of the game.
