St. Michaels 0-05, Navan O'Mahonys 1-11
Navan O'Mahonys pulled themselves together after what was a poor opening half of football by both teams but the town side emerged comfortable winners after a much improved second half display in this IFC encounter in Cortown on Friday night last.
O'Mahonys opened the scoring with a point in the first minute but didn't score again until the end of the first quarter, St. Michaels drew level in the fourth minute when Declan Reilly split the posts and Ciaran Lynch put them one in front on 12 minutes. O'Mahonys drew level again in the 16th minute but an excellent effort from Jack Griffin put his side back in front. O'Mahonys posted their last point of the half on 26 minutes before Davy Lynch gave his side a one point advantage at the short whistle.
O'Mahonys put 4 points on the board before corner back Brian O'Reilly posted St. Michaels only second half score in the 40th minute. O'Mahonys hit the back of the net at the end of the third quarter and they added another four minors before referee Robbie Barrett blew the long whistle.
