Dunshaughlin 2-12 Summerhill 2-10
Dunshaughlin caused the first real upset in this years senior football championship with this three point win over Keegan Cup holders Summerhill in the third game of the day at Pairc Tailteann.
The Black and Ambers raced into a two point lead but by the 15th minute Summerhill were in front thanks to a Conor Frayne goal. Dunshaughlin hit back with three unanswered points before the Hill’s second goal arrived courtesy of a Barry Dardis penalty. Richie Kealy’s men hit back with three more points to go it at the break level 2-5 to 0-11.
Conor Gray scored a goal of the year contender five minutes into the second half but by the 10th minute they were reduced to 14 men, Fursey Blake sent to the line on a second yellow. With ten minutes remaining the sides were level again 2-9 to 1-12. As the game entered injury time county star Mathew Costello netted to seal a memorable win and a place in the last eight for Dunshaughlin.
