Jakub Bidzinski gets in his pass for St. Michaels during the IFC clash against Kilbride

St. Michaels 1-11, Kilbride 1-12

St. Michaels were made to pay dear for not sealing the deal in the 4th quarter of this match played in ideal conditions in Donore on Saturday evening last.

They had their chances to at least come away with a share of the spoils but some of their efforts dropped short into the keeper's hands and a few earlier efforts should have went between the posts after they worked hard to recover from a seven point deficit early in the second half.

All of St. Michaels points in the opening half came from placed balls with Gearóid O'Malley (3) and Cian McFadden (1) accounting for their opening tally to see them trail by 0-4 to 1-7 at the short whistle.

That lead was stretched to seven early in the second half but the Carlanstown / Kilbeg combination never gave up and two fine efforts from play by the young intermediate debutant Gearóid O'Malley helped their cause greatly before an excellent shot to the back of the net from Jakub Bidzinski's left foot put just two points between the sides. Kilbride rallied but points from O'Malley (1) and substitute Ciaran Lynch (2) left it a one point game, however shots dropping short and missing the target in the dying minutes deprived the St. Michaels lads of at least a draw.

St. Michaels: Conor Gilsenan; Robert Briody, Ciaran O'Reilly, Brian O'Reilly; Daniel Murphy, Matthew Halpin, Jakub Bidzinski (1-1); Paddy Fitzsimons, Paddy Clarke; David Lynch, Paddy Tobin, Declan Reilly; Cian McFadden (0-1), Mark Stafford, Geaóid O'Malley (0-7).

Subs: Harry Dunne for Stafford, Jack Griffin for Clarke, Cathal Walsh for Dunne, Ciaran Lynch for Griffin.

Report: Pascal Reilly PRO.
