Kilmainhamwood's Rian Stafford

Kilmainhamwood 1-11 Moynalty 1-15

Kilmainhamwood and Moynalty lined out in Drumconrath for the Division 5 league semi final on Wednesday evening.

Moynalty got of to a quickfire start hitting 6 points in quick succession. Kilmainhamwood got on the scoreboard by way of a Rian Stafford free. Moynalty played a quick ball inside and Killian Russell made a crucial interception to spark the Wood into life. Kilmainhamwood hit 6 points 4 from the trusty boot of Rian Stafford, 1 from Kian Gillespie and 1 from Eoin Finnegan to leave the minimum in it heading to the dressing room at half time.

Half Time Kilmainhamwood 0-7 Moynalty 0-8

Moynalty started the second half stronger breaking down the middle of the field to get a deflected shot away only to end up in another pair of Moynalty hands to finish to the back of the net. From this point the Wood were working hard to get back into the game and did cut the deficit to 2 with a superb point from Rian Stafford to get the Wood scoreboard ticking again. Moynalty scored 3 points of their own in response. Over the next 10 minutes the Wood started to turn the screw and their efforts paid off when Kian Gillespie collected the ball and charged towards the goal and finished with a clinical shot to bring Kilmainhamwood back to within 3. Moynalty started to find a small bit extra and kicked 4 more points to stretch the lead just beyond Kilmainhamwoods reach.
