Kildalkey topped the group unbeaten but knew only too well that a final is always hard to win and O'Mahonys were going to be formidable opponents.

O Mahonys struck for an early point to settle them but a Lee Coldrick goal got Kildalkey off the mark O'Mahonys struck again and their big physical half forward line causing problems but eventually they got to grips with them.Kildalkey revived a blow losing experienced Sean crash Corrigan through injury.

Stephen Murray then sprung into action hitting the next 1-2 further points from Evan Geoghegan, Martin Browne and Jamie Kavanagh had the village going well but a mistake at the back let O'Mahonys in for a goal to leave 4 points in it at the break 2-8 to 1-7 to the village men.

O'Mahonys introduced Shane McCarthy who hit a point from a free to close the gap but Kildalkey got a grip on proceedings and points from Kavanagh Coldrick and Geoghegan along with a brilliant individual goal from Kavanagh had them in the driving seat.

Alex Rickard and Stephen Murray left the score with about 8 minutes left 3-13 to 1-8 but the sending off of the outstanding Conor McNally completely upset the village as O'Mahonys sprung to life as it seemed to give them huge energy 2 goals and 4 points in the next few minutes left it 3-13 to 3-12 as Kildalkey were hanging on by their fingernails .

After being cruising to victory for 50 minutes It was all O'Mahonys and only for some staunch defending by Enda Fitzgerald, Arron Traynor, Ciaran Browne and Cian McGourty who came out with the ball and relieved the danger numerous times the blues hung on for a 1 point victory as time ran out for Navan.

Although it was Division 5 there was some quality hurling played by both teams.

Captain Arron Traynor received the cup from fellow Club man Michael Bird to the delight of their supporters.

6 of last year’s minor hurlers were involved throughout the year and gained their first adult medal in their first year up from underage which is a great achievement for this young team.
