Carnaross 0-18 Dunshaughlin 0-10

Carnaross travelled up the M3 to take on Dunshaughlin in the penultimate round of the Division 4 league. Dunshaughlin were without a win in this year's competition but Carnaross were missing a host of regulars.

The first half was a very even contest. The home side exploded out of the blocks registering the first two points. Cormac Yore replied with an expertly struck 45 before his brother, Oisín, levelled matters with a fine strike from distance. Darragh O’Reilly hit a brace wedged between two converted frees for the town team. The next play proved critical as Liam Day got down low to save a goal bound effort from a Dunshaughlin counter. A penalty was awarded for a push however and Day stepped up again to deny the opponents. The Ross had their own goal chance but Cormac Yore hit a rasper against the crossbar. O'Reilly continued to impress and struck over the next 2 points matching the 2 from Dunshaughlin. At half time it was a draw match with both teams registering 6 points.

The second half saw a much improved performance from the North Meath men. Four consecutive points in 5 minutes gave the Hoops some breathing space. Dillon Fox began to find space converting a brace with O'Reilly adding his fifth. McGee began to catch fire with his first of five second half scores. Dunshaughlin weren't done yet though and responded with two scores in quick succession. Possession was critical and Mossy Plunkett, John Reilly and Shane Yore won some vital 50/50 balls. Pierce Fleming and Paddy Farnan were great outlets for beginning attacks as John L and Charlie Murphy kept the scoreboard ticking over. Fleming galloped forward to add a rare score of his own after a lung bursting run. In the last ten minutes, Carnaross broke at speed to outscore their opponents 5-2, with points coming from McGee (3), Charlie Murphy and the evergreen Killian Porter.

It was a well rounded performance from Carnaross who rode their luck in their first half only to dominate the second.

We now travel to Dunboyne in the final round on July 4th , knowing a win could potentially see us sneak into a semi final spot and a loss could see us dragged into the relegation semi finals.
