Kilmainhamwood's Rian Stafford

Kilmainhamwood 2-9 Trim 1-9

In the penultimate round of the Division 5 league Kilmainhamwood headed to the fine facilties of Trim GFC for a crucial league game played out in warm conditions.

Trim started much quicker then Kilmainhamwood as over the first 20 minute period Trim registered 1-6 to Kilmainhamwood 0-2 points one from Eoin Rooney and one from Rian Stafford. The Wood needed these scores to settle into the game but started to claw away at the deficit as the half wore on. This was started by a nicely taken Killian Russell point and a speculative goal attempt by Oisin Reilly which say the ball rifle into the top corner.

Half time Kilmainhamwood 1-3  Trim 1-6

With only 3 points in it immediately after the restart Killian Russell collected the ball and went on a darting run through the centre of the Trim defence to score a goal to level proceedings. This goal kick started Kilmainhamwood into life and the Wood set about opening up a lead. This was done by a hattrick of Rian Stafford points 2 from frees and one from play. Trim had a man black carded at this point after a mistimed tackle on Daragh Smith. Kilmainhamwood started to turn the screw on Trim with further points from Eoin Rooney and a fisted effort from Noah Madden to put 5 between the sides. With Trim back to the full team of players the tagged on a few points but couldn’t close the gap on the Wood.

Kilmainhamwood: Josh Clarke, Kian Owens, Padraic Barber, Oisin Fagan, Darragh Smith, Ciaran Doyle, Oisin Reilly (1-0), Niall Bennett, Killian Russell (1-1), Noah Madden (0-1), Niall Conlon, Shane Townley,  Michael Shankey, Rian Stafford (0-5, 0-3f), Eoin Rooney (0-2)
