June 24, 2024

Dunderry's Evan Nolan

Kildalkey 2-16 Dunderry 1-15

A rain drenched Kildalkey was the venue for the top of the table clash for between the all conquering Kildalkey and Dunderry.

The hosts raced into a 4 point lead by virtue of a free and a goal from play. Mark Leavy cancelled out the point and Daire O Driscoll cancelled the goal with a low shot from 20 yards. A fine half of hurling followed with 12 scores from play to leave it 2-8 to 1-9 at the break. For Dunderry Mark Leavy notched over 2, Jordan Martin and Ó Laoire 1 each. The remainder coming from frees by Evan Nolan.

After the interval Kildalkey extended their lead to 5 before a brace of frees from Nolan and a chip over from Tadhg Dowd narrowed the gap to 2. It was nip and tuc for the second half but the hosts were finding scores way easier than the visitors. Dunderry showed promise with some lovley hurling but could only manage one more from play when  Loughran stormed out of defence- off loaded to Jamie Leavy who linked in Donagh Ó Laoire  who in turn gave  a great feed into Nolan who split the posts.

Kildalkey who had years of experience on show ran out deserving winners on a score line of 2-16 to 1-15.

The Dunderry youngsters will hopefully learn from defeat and dust themselves down for the last group game next weekend.

Dunderry scorers: Evan Nolan 0-9 (6 frees and 1 65), Daire O Driscoll 1-0, Mark Leavy 0-3, Tadhg Dowd, Martin and Donagh Ó Laoire a point each.
