An outstanding display from Charlie Crawley paved the way for Gilson National School's comfortable win in the Developing Shield final. It was the first time the Oldcastle school, who claimed a Boys Division 2 football title last November, entered a team in the hurling competition.

Charlie Crawley was the hero of the day scoring 4-3. The winners led 1-2 to 0-2 at the break but three second half goals from the midfielder along with a brace of points from joint captain Tomas Cahill set the boys in Blue and White on the road to a 14 point win.

After the game joint captains Ronan Fitzpatrick and Tomas Cahill were presented with the Developing Shield by Seanie Geraghty.
