Schools: Coole breeze to historic first

Davin Quinn strikes for Coole NS during the Cumann na mBunscol Division 5 hurling final against Carnaross at Trim

These two teams were fielding for the first first time in a Cumann na mBunscol hurling competition and in the end it was Coole who brought home the silverware.

James McElligott gave the winners a great start with a goal but Carnaross replied with 1-1 from Peter Barrett. The impressive number 6 raised a second green flag before the end of the half but by then Coole had taken control of the game. Two goals from Rian McCormack and one from Davin Quinn gave them a 4-3 to 2-1 interval lead.

The team in Blue and Amber outscored Carnaross 3-4 to 1-1 in the second half as they went on to claim a first ever hurling title for the school.

After the game joint captains Tadhg Flynn and Ryan McCormack were presented with the Division 5 cup.
