Div 1 FL: Eight down three to go

June 07, 2024

Ryan Farnham scored a crucial late goal for Gaeil Colmcille in Simonstown

With three rounds to go a host of clubs remain in contention to reach the top four in the Division 1 Football League.

County champions Summerhill jumped to the top after their championship warm up win over Ballinabrackey. The winners led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break and two quick goals early in the second half put them on the road to victory.

O’Mahonys woes continue after their 8th straight loss, a late goal from a Conor O’Brien penalty after a foul on James Finnerty doing the damage at Fr. McManus Park.

Ratoath leap frogged Donaghmore Ashbourne into second place on score difference. The winners led 1-4 to 0-5 at half time.

The Cilles remain in contention after their seven point win over Na Fianna, Ben Brennan and Danny Echicoya with their goals.

Simonstown stay in relegation trouble after their late late loss to Gaeil Colmcille. Keeper Barry Farrelly scored 1-4 for the winners and a Ryan Farnham goal in injury time sealed a valuable two points for the Kells men.

Despite being 1-8 to 1-5 in arrears at the break Wolfe Tones fought back and picked up their 3rd win of the campaign.
