Ruairi Buchanan St. Ultans

Ultans 4-13 Dunboyne 0-16

St Ultans travelled to Dunboyne on Tuesday night and aided by a strong start came away with both the points.

Dunboyne had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half and were first to score, Ultans replied through Adam Rogers reacting fastest to point after a free came off the posts.  Dunboyne replied but centre forward Tommy Buchanan raised a green flag after five minutes. Dunboyne responded with two scores but Ultans took control of the game with two goals and four points without reply. Darren Hughes scored from an acute angle followed by a Buchanan free. Ruairi Buchanan then finished low to net. Ultans won the resulting kickout and worked the ball to full forward Ciaran Rogers who finished to the net. A Conor Finnegan point and another score from corner forward Ruairi Buchanan stretched the lead to ten. Dunboyne responded with five points in a row to half the deficit but two frees from Ruairi Buchanan extended the lead to seven at the break.

The home side enjoyed a lot of possession but resolute defending the second half combined with some accurate point taking from the visitors ensured Ultans left with both points. Luke Griffin, Tommy Buchanan, Adam Rogers, Ciaran Rogers and Ruairi Buchanan (2) all pointed in the second half and a late Tommy Buchanan completed the scoring.
