Moynalvey’s poor run in the JM Food Services Div. 2 League continued as they lost out by two points to host side Dunshaughlin in this round seven game played Saturday afternoon May 25th.

Caomhin King and Michael McHale’s return to face their home club and former team mate Richie Kealy proved to be an unsuccessful one with the home side striking with a late goal to take the two points on offer.

Moynalvey remain bottom of the Div. 2 table with one win from seven outings following this defeat, although they will feel aggrieved not to take something from this contest.

Early on it looked like Dunshaughlin were going to run away with this game as they led 2-3 to no score with twelve minutes played.

A brilliant individual solo run from Michael Brady saw him blast past Adam McDermott in the Dunshaughlin goals from an acute angle for Moynalvey’s first score in the 15th minute.

Just thirty seconds later Moynalvey had the ball in the Dunshaughlin net for a second time, this time Brady turning provider with a neat pas to Conor Quinn who finished, leaving things looking a bit brighter for the visitors, 2-3 to 2-0.

Moynalvey then took the lead for the first time with 1-1 from Vinny Walsh, a pointed free after Keelan Taylor was bundled over. The goal coming from the penalty spot, a quick free from Vinny Walsh who found Mark O’Sullivan who in turn played a brilliantly weighted pass into full forward William Harnan who was hauled down in the area, Walsh stepped up to expertly dispatch the spot kick to leave the men in maroon now leading by a point 3-1 to 2-3.

Dunshaughlin points from Niall Byrne and Conor Duke rounded off the first half scoring leaving Richie Kealy’s side a point to the good as they retreated to the dressing rooms following referee Liam Reddy’s half time whistle, 2-5 to 3-1.

Moynalvey’s Mark O’Sullivan put on an exhibition of point scoring in the second half, the first of his five second half points all from play coming in the first minute of the half, drawing the sides’ level for a second time.

Dunshaughlin points from Luke Mitchell and Tommy Kinsella put the town side two points up, 2-7 to 3-2, seven minutes into the half.

1-2 from Moynalvey, the goal coming from a burst down the middle from Padraic Harnan, who passed to Barry Walsh who in turn found William Harnan who made no mistake blasting Past Adam McDermott for Moynalvey’s fourth goal giving the men in maroon a three point advantage thirteen minutes into the second half, 4-4 to 2-7.

A looping point attempt which seemed to hang in the air forever dropped short and after a goal mouth scramble the ball found its way to Conor Egan’s net for Dunshaughlin’s third goal, drawing the sides level for a third time, 4-4 to 3-7.

Two Mark O’Sullivan points either side of a Dunshaughlin point, followed up by a Donal Smith point put Moynalvey two points up, 4-7 to 3-8, with 53 minutes on the clock.

A pair of Dunshaughlin points levelled matters for a fourth time, before William Harnan arrowed a point off the outside of the right boot over the black spot for what looked like the match winner on the stroke of the 60th minute.

However, there was still time for Dunshaughlin to patiently build up an attack to muster up one late last goal opportunity to the heartbreak of Moynalvey to see the Senior side run out two point winners, 4-10 to 4-8.

Best for Moynalvey here were Padraic Harnan, William Harnan and Mark O’Sullivan.
