Kilmainhamwood's Rian Stafford

Kilmainhamwood: 0-15 Wolfe Tones 0-8

Kilmainhamwood hosted Wolfe Tones in a Division 5 league game Sunday morning boosted by the return of Rian Stafford from his endeavours with the Meath Under 20 team.

Kilmainhamwood started quicker of the two with Stafford getting the scoreboard going with 2 well taken points. Kian Gillespie and Brian Cassidy were a dominant force around the middle of the field winning plenty of kickouts and breaking ball making things tough for their Tones counterparts. The Wood were tight at the back under the guidance of Padraic Barber with Michael Shankey slotting into a sweeper role. Kian Gillespie caught a kickout a broke a speed to take a well pointed score, Brian Cassidy done the same after. Wolfe Tones had it hard to try and get scores on the board with Ciaran Doyle and Kian Owens having their attacking outlets well marked. Another Kian Gillespie point and 2 from Stafford, one being a free brought the game to the halfway mark.

Half Time Kilmainhamwood: 0-8 Wolfe Tones: 0-2

To start the second half Noah Madden landed a big shoulder on his opponent to disposses offloading to Daragh Smith for a well taken score. Killian Russell make an enterprising run to collect the ball for a well taken score of his own. Niall Conlon and Shane Townley worked tirelessly for the Woods defensive effort and the latter was rewarded with a well taken score to put real distance between the 2 teams. The Tones had a 10 minute period of dominance where they tagged on a few nicely taken scores, 3 of them frees but it wasn’t enough to put pressure on Kilmainhamwood. Daragh Smith had another well taken point to finish out the game. Oisin Fagan and Oisin Reilly came on for Padraic Barber and Eoin Finnegan respectively.
