Navan O’Mahony’s 0-07 St Colmcilles 2-10

St Colmcilles had too much in the tank for Navan O’Mahony’s in this Round 7 encounter of the Div 1 FL played in Paddy O’Brien Park on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors kicked two points in the opening minutes and extended their lead with a goal in the ninth, putting them five points ahead. Another point followed before Duggie Dillon opened the scoring for Navan O’Mahony’s. in the fourteenth minute with a point. 

St Colmcilles responded quickly with two points and ten minutes passed before Robbie Keelaghan kicked the second point. Towards the end of the half Niall McGrane kicked an impressive point from a wide angle to finish out the half.

Things did not improve for the Brews Hill men in the second half, and St Colmcilles extended their lead with a pointed free in the opening minutes. Jake Regan responded with a free in the tenth minute, having been unlucky for a goal opportunity minutes before. 

At the opposite end of the pitch, St Colmcilles raised another white flag and in the eighteenth minute of the second half, sent a ball to the net to finish off the game as any kind of a contest. 

The sides exchanged points for the remainder of the game, with Aodhan Mallon and Keelaghan scoring for Navan O’Mahony’s but it was St Colmcilles who take the points on offer.
