Ballinabrackey came out on top in Round 4 of the Div 1 FL, played in Ballinabrackey on a cool but dry Saturday evening. 

Navan O’Mahony’s had an early substitution, when Jake Regan retired through injury within a couple of minutes of the throw-in. Aodhan Mallon pointed from a free in the second minute, before Ballinabrackey scored from play at the opposite end of the pitch.

In the fourth minute, Robbie Keelaghan gave Navan O’Mahony’s a narrow lead again. Within sixty seconds, this had been wiped away when the home side found the net to put themselves two in front. Adding points in the seventh and ninth minutes, Ballinabrackey raised another green flag in the twelfth minute.

Navan O’Mahony’s were chasing the game from this early stage and Keelaghan reduced the deficit with points in the sixteenth and twenty-first minutes, the latter from play.  In the final eight minutes, Ballinabrackey added two points while Duggie Dillon added one for his side.

With a slow start to the second half, almost seven minutes passed without score until Ballinabrackey extended their lead with a point from play. 

In the eleventh minute, Brian Dillon pointed from play but Ballinabrackey responded with two points in quick succession. Mallon added a score from a free and Paddy Dillon pointed from play, but Navan O’Mahony’s were finding it hard to cut into the deficit, with a number of wides in the half also. 

Ballinabrackey added two points with five minutes to go, before Clayton O’Sullivan scored the final score of the game in injury time, with the home side taking both points on offer.
