Oldcastle 0-10, St. Pats 0-06
This match was played in perfect conditions last night, under lights at Millbrook.
St. Pats were first on the scoreboard, with a point from the first play. Seven minutes passed before the next score, which came from a lovely Ronan Maguire intercept, over to Jason Scully on the far side and in to Keith Connell who fired her over perfectly. The kickout came to Garrett O’Reilly who chipped her in to the waiting Scully and over for another nice score. St Pats applied pressure soon after but Sean Maxwell saved the day with a great block on the ground, but they levelled it soon after with a point, then went ahead with another. The kickout was fisted on by Oran Mulvanny, finding Keith Connell and in to Robbie Farrelly for a score. Another save from Sean Maxwell soon after, before a fantastic point from CJ, and another score from Robbie Farrelly left the half-time score Oldcastle 0-05, St. Pats 0-03.
Within 5 minutes of the restart, St. Pat’s had taken three points in a row to go ahead, and were looking for a goal, denied by another super Sean Maxwell save, a busy man tonight! A clearance from Cian McPartland to Oran O’Reilly, on to Steven Lawless, to Conor Delaney, back to Steven and on to Lee Healy, over to Oran Mulvanny, to Keith, back to Oran, to Conor again, on to Jason Scully, to Steven once more, on to Ben Grey, to Conor again then back to Oran Mulvanny once more, enough of this he said and with a wee run and a super kick he put her between the posts, a lovely score to kickstart the lads again. A nice ball from Garrett to Robbie F resulted in the next point, with Robbie converting a free soon after, following some great work from Pearse Sheridan. Yet another save from Sean Maxwell required, the ball out to Jason, on to Ben who was fouled; Robbie converted. The kickout was taken by Oldcastle, to CJ on the sideline, to Keith, back to CJ, on via Darren Hawdon, to Sean Maxwell making a run upfield, on to Oran O’Reilly, to Oran Mulvanny, to Robbie and Keith and finally back to CJ Healy who took a lovely score, to leave the final score Oldcastle 0-10, St. Pats 0-06, and the Corn na Boinne final to look forward to!
