All the results from the night that Mickey Harte made his competitive debut as Derry manager.
The former Tyrone All-Ireland winning boss got off to a successful start with a hard fought win over Cavan in Kingspan Breffni as the McKenna Cup got underway.
Jim McGuinness also saw his second coming as Donegal manager commence with a big win over Kieran McGeeney’s Armagh while Monaghan got the better of Antrim.
In Leinster, Offaly set up a meeting with All-Ireland champions Dublin as they saw off Laois in the O’Byrne Cup, while Kildare were too strong for Carlow.
In the McGrath Cup there were comfortable wins for Kerry and Cork, over Tipperary and Clare respectively.
In Connacht hurling Mayo advanced to the HL final with a narrow victory over Roscommon.
