Kilmessan's Adam O'Neill has his eye on the Trim goal during the Meath U21 HC final at Dunganny

Kilmessan 0-15 Trim 2-6

Kilmessan put an end to Trim’s hopes of winning a five in a row of Meath Under 21 Hurling Championship titles with this outstanding second half display played in very stormy conditions at Dunganny. PHOTOS

When these sides met in the group stages a few weeks back in ended in a draw, 1-11 each, so a very close encounter was on the cards on pitch 2 at the Meath Centre of Excellence.

The elements slightly favoured the holders in the opening half and despite some outstanding work from the Kilmessan defence Trim were 2-4 to 0-5 in front at the break.

Slowly but surely Kilmessan began to chip away at that Trim lead. With Kris Gorman, Lorcan O’Connor, Luke and Mark Horan to the fore they outscored Trim 0-10 to 0-2 in the second to seal a memorable win for the Nicky Horan, David Donnelly, Joey Keenan, Dermie O Brien and Stephen Clynch trained outfit.

After the game John Brennan presented to Under 21 HC Cup to Kilmessan captain Harry Cahill.
