St. Joseph’s Mercy Navan 3-4 Ashbourne Educate Together NS 1-3

St. Joseph’s Mercy Navan claimed their first Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol title when overcoming Ashbourne Educate Together NS in the Boys Division 2/3 Shield final at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

The last game of the day produced a low scoring opening half. Ashbourne were first off the mark with a Eoghan Quail point and by the midway point they led 1-2 to 0-1 thanks to a Ignacy Wieteska goal. Harry Rooney kept the eventual winners in touch with his teams second point before the break.

The Navan school dominated the second half. A goal and a point from Rooney along with a Harry Russell point had them two points in front after five minutes. Goals from Aimilios Botonis and Rooney followed and the title was heading to the Navan school.

After the game James Brennan presented the Division 2/3 Shield to St. Joseph captain Bobby Bonner.
