Tadgh Brosnan sent over the winner for Blackhall Gaels in extra time

Blackhall Gaels 2-9 Nobber 0-14 (after extra time)

Blackhall Gaels will keep their place in next years Intermediate Football Championship after this relegation quarter final extra time win over Nobber at Paddy O’Brien Park.

Two goals from half forward Paul Kelly proved crucial. 

The Gaels led at half time 1-6 to 0-8, Kellys first goal coming on the 27th minute to tie the game up and a second pointed free from the same player gave Blackhall a minimum half time lead. Luke Jennings (2) Tadgh Brosnan and Dermot Carty completed the winners first half tally.

In a low scoring second half a Jenning’s point on the 25th minute secured a 1-8 to 0-11 draw for Blackhall and send the game into extra time.

The first half of extra time was only on when Kelly got in for his second goal but by the end of the opening 10 minutes Nobber had closed the gap to one, 2-8 to 0-13.

The North Meath side had the game all square midway through the second half before veteran Tadgh Brosnan sent over the winning score from a free with three minutes remaining.

Blackhalll can now turn turn their attention to a SHC quarter final against Ratoath while Nobber play the losers of Dunderry and St. Michaels in the relegation semi final.
