Kilmessan turned on the style in the second half to claim the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 Hurling title in the first game of the day yesterday at Lomans Park Trim. PHOTOS

Luke Staunton gave the winners the perfect start with a goal but St. Pauls dominated much of the opening half and with a brace of goals from Ruairi McDermott went in at the break 2-1 to 1-2 in front.

The second half belonged to Kilmessan. Harry Maguire got ball rolling with a fine point. Staunton added to his tally before Liam O’Brien found the Pauls net to open up a three point lead. Padraig Connell, Jamie O’Brien and Maguire added points before Pauls hit back with a Cillian Fitzsimons goal. Darragh Ward narrowed the lead a point but Kilmessan found that extra gear and three points from O’Brien (2) and Michael Gallagher was enough to seal the win and give the school their first title since 2017.

After the game the Zak Moran Memorial Cup was presented to Kilmessan joint captains Adam Horan and Jamie O’Brien.
